There is so much to see and do in beautiful Dumfries and Galloway, and Port Logan is a great base from which to explore the area. Some of our visitors pitch up and stay put, simply soaking up the views, and enjoying walks on the beach and local area. But, if you want to go further afield, there is a wide variety of attractions and days out for you to choose from.

Click the images below or the headings for more information and suggestions for places to visit. Also make sure you visit the Kirkmaiden Information Centre on Main Street in Drummore, who have local specialist knowledge. There is also a Tourist Information Centre in Stranraer.

Activities Activities
You can be as active as you like on your holiday and there are a wide range of activities to choose from. Walking, fishing, golf, cycling, pony trekking etc are just a few of the things you might wish to try.
However, if you've come on holiday for a well earned rest, there is another option; just relax, unwind, and enjoy the views from your pitch!

Gardens Gardens
Spoilt for choice! Logan Botanic Garden showcases exotic species from all over the world. Then there's Ardwell and Logan House gardens, with fabulous spring displays and 'champion' trees. Try the gardens of Castle Kennedy and the gardens at Dunskey. Finally, there's Glenwhan, created from wild moorland. Which will be your favourite?

History History
Human settlement has a long history in the area, and this is reflected in the artefacts and buildings left behind for us to discover and interpret. A good place to start your exploration would be the Stranraer Museum. But you might also wish to look at OS Explorer maps for clues to the past. Follow the links on the 'History' page if you want to find out more.

Nature Nature
Our mixture of cultivated, wild, and coastal landscapes provides a rich variety of habitats for wildlife and nature for us to discover and enjoy. Whether visiting an attraction, such as the Logan Fish Pond or RSPB reserve at the Mull of Galloway, or exploring the dunes, wildlife and woodlands at Torrs Warren, there is something to interest everyone.
